Here are the rankings on HMB, in order from highest to lowest.
Herd Rankings
King
Ruler over the herd.
Queen
Selected by the King- Female ruler over the herd.
Heir
First colt of the queen and king, who will take over if anything happens to his/her parents.
Princes and Princesses
Any female foals of the King and Queen, who are illegible to take up the throne, or any of the younger colts.
Guards
Appointed by the King or Queen, the guards are in charge of protecting the entire herd territory. They ensure that no tresspassers enter, and keep peace amoung the sectors.
Royal Mares
These mares, specially selected by the King, are a part of the Royal family, like duchesses. They are sometimes bred by the King, or the Royal Stallions, if they are mated. If something happens to the Queen, one of these mares will often step up to take her place.
Royal Stallions
These stallions were accepted into the royal family. They are like dukes, or counts. They are often mates with the Royal Mares. If something happens to the King, and their is no heir, then one of these stallions will often step up and take his place.
Royal Foals
Foals born to or adopted by the Royal Mares, whether their sires be one of the Royal Stallions or the King.
Beta Male
In each herd, there are three beta males, each ruling over one of the Sectors. They are obliged to attend all herd meetings, and they may be challenged for their positions.
Beta Female
The mate of the Beta Male, also obliged to attend all herd meetings.
Beta Foal
A colt who may inherit the kingdom in case of his father's death.
Herd Foals
A foal of the herd who will not inherit any major position.
Herd Mare
A mare in the herd.
Herd Stallion
A stallion in the herd.
Slaves
These horses, looked down upon by most, are the servants of anyone else in the herd. Enslaved stallions may not claim mares, though they may have a mate. Enslaved horses may be bred by anyone, and may be taken as mates by anyone. Their foals will also be slaves, unless decided otherwise by a royal. They are obliged to do what they are told, at all times.
Loner Rankings
Lone Lead
A stallion who has claimed a cave.
Lone Stallion
A stallion who is a loner.
Lone Mare
A mare who is a loner.
Lone Foal
A foal who is a loner.
Rogue
A stallion, often evil, whose sole purpose is reproduction. He may claim a harem of up to five mares, though they must be loners.
Belleza
A mare who is part of a rogue's harem.
